Musk criticized Apple's partnership with OpenAI: and here's why

The already strained relationship between Ilon Musk and developer ChatGPT took another hit after Apple's announcements at WWDC 2024.
During the WWDC 2024 conference, which kicked off on June 10, Apple announced a future partnership with artificial intelligence pioneer OpenAI, intending to integrate the ChatGPT brand technology with Siri. The news sparked outrage from US entrepreneur Ilon Musk, who addressed Platform X with a series of posts accusing Apple of “selling user data,” Gizmochina writes.

Musk expressed his skepticism by stating the following:

Apple isn't innovative enough to create its own AI, but thinks it can guarantee user privacy with OpenAI? That's ridiculous! Once your data goes into OpenAI, Apple loses control. They are essentially selling you out.

In subsequent posts, Musk's criticism escalated further. He began threatening a potential ban on Apple-branded devices. “If Apple integrates OpenAI at the operating system level,” Musk wrote, “Apple devices will be banned from my companies. This represents a serious security breach. Visitors will be required to surrender their Apple devices at the entrance and store them in Faraday cages."
